Reclaim Your Joy: 5 Minutes to a Brighter You

Hello there,

We’re finishing the year strong by turning inward and fortifying our foundations. Last week, we anchored into our “why” with breathwork. This week, we’ll tap into joy to re-energize—because joyful leaders are resilient leaders.

Finish Strong - Week 3

Joy isn’t a luxury—it’s a leadership strategy. Research shows that moments of joy reduce cortisol, increase dopamine, and improve productivity by up to 20%. This week, we’re carving out just five minutes a day to reconnect with activities that make you smile.

We'll make joy a habit with “joy time-out” that recharge your mind and fuel your best self.

Daily Joy Challenges

Use a happy soundtrack to enhance your joy time-out! Here are two happy tracks that last exactly 5 minutes each: Happy Time + Upbeat Jams

Day 1:

  • Activity: Write down three things that made you smile yesterday.

  • Why it Works: Reflecting on positive moments activates your brain’s reward system, reinforcing joy and gratitude.

Day 2:

  • Activity: Spend five minutes coloring or doodling. Let yourself play!

  • Why it Works: Creative activities lower stress and engage the brain's default mode network, fostering relaxation and insight.

Day 3:

  • Activity:Stretch or dance to the music for five minutes.

  • Why it Works: Movement releases endorphins and reduces tension, energizing both body and mind.

Day 4:

  • Activity:Sing along to a favorite song or hum a joyful tune.

  • Why it Works: Singing reduces cortisol levels and boosts feelings of connection and happiness.

Day 5:

  • Activity: Write a short note of appreciation to someone (or to yourself!).

  • Why it Works: Expressing gratitude increases serotonin and strengthens relationships.

Joy is contagious. When you take time to re-energize with joy, you not only uplift yourself but also those around you. Let these five minutes of daily joy infuse your leadership with positivity and purpose.

Hit play, find your joy, and watch how it transforms your week.

Keep growing,
Jamie
