The holidays can bring chaos, and year-end pressures are everywhere—but this community is taking a different path. For the next five weeks, we Growing Leaders are choosing intention over overwhelm. We're turning inward to strengthen foundations rather than grinding out external results. Why? Because intentional practices like mindfulness and reflection lead to higher productivity, lower stress, and greater fulfillment—not just for us, but for those we lead.

Finish Strong - Week 1
This week, we’ll start by reconnecting to your “why” and grounding yourself with quick, impactful practices. When goals are tied to a "why" we resonate with emotionally, our brain's reward pathways are activated, increasing dopamine release and fostering long-term habit adherence.
Self-Reflect
Think about the benefits you’ll gain from these simple daily practices. Results, yes, and how you’ll feel—perhaps more balanced, present, confident, or fulfilled? Who can you become? What can you do? How do you want to feel?
Apply & Practice
Now we'll use neuroscience and breathing to anchor your desired state. Research shows that breathwork not only reduces stress but also enhances creativity and emotional resilience.
Day 1: Take 5 minutes to journal:
What feelings do I want to cultivate from this challenge?
How would I describe the best version of myself?
What would it feel like to carry that version into work and life?
Day 2: Practice mindful breathing:
Inhale deeply for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6.
Repeat for 3 minutes. I recommend using a timer.
Day 3-5: Bring your "why" into your breathing practice:
Step 1: Recall the feelings you identified in Day 1.
Step 2: Set a timer for 5 minutes and breathe deeply while repeating a phrase that mirrors your Day 1 journaling. Examples:
"I inhale calm, I exhale stress."
"I inhale balance, I exhale overwhelm."
"I inhale caring, I exhale judgement."
By the end of the week, you’ll have taken a tangible step toward the feelings you want more of in your life.
