[Lead Nau] Resilience in Election Season
Resilience.
That's what we need as we navigate challenging seasons. Especially election season, when personal opinions and values clash on a public stage, often carrying the lovely combo of assumptions, projections, and judgements.
Set yourself up for success by focusing on what you have control over.
Be intentional about the content you consume. Choose mindfully what you will read and listen to in advance. Turn off notifications as appropriate.
Set boundaries for media consumption before you turn it on or open the app.
Surround yourself with safe, respectful people.
Move your body and fuel it well.
Get enough sleep.
It may be tempting to slam leftover Halloween candy, grab your phone at each dinging headline, and binge watch news coverage late into the night. It's easy to give into those temptations when our emotions and uncertainty are flared up.
But you do not have to give in. You are a resilient human. You can handle the outcomes of this election. You can regulate yourself throughout the process.
You've got this.
Keep growing,
Jamie
